Geoff: If somebody’s injured in an automobile accident and they want a leading personal injury law firm, what would that leading personal injury law firm be able to do for them?

Response: When someone’s injured in an accident, we don’t want them talking to the insurance companies. We want them coming to us, letting us talk to the insurance companies—at least to control the flow of information so they don’t say something that may seem innocent but is going to cause harm to their case. We want to make sure that if there’s a statement that has to be given to an insurance company, we’re controlling that, and we can make sure that they’re not saying anything that’s going to hurt the case, that they’re prepared, and that we have the advantage of the advice of counsel when they’re going into making those statements.

Geoff: What is another way that we can help them at an early stage of the accident investigation?

Response: We have premier investigators across the state that have decades of law enforcement experience where they will go out and investigate these claims. Many personal injury firms do not have that. Those investigators will go out, they’ll collect statements from witnesses, they’ll secure pictures of vehicles that are destroyed, skid marks, talk to witnesses, talk to investigating officers, and gather all kinds of critical information. We find videos from neighboring businesses, for example, and even doorbell videos. This gives us a huge advantage to have all of this evidence gathered before it disappears. The insurance companies have their investigator, so we need to have ours.

Geoff: What’s the next way that a first-class injury firm can help someone under these circumstances?

Response: Well, the biggest priority we have is our clients’ health. We want to help them recover physically, financially, and emotionally. So right away we want to make sure they’re receiving the highest quality medical care that they can. We can’t tell them how to treat because we’re not doctors, but what we can do is help them find the right doctors: orthopedic doctors, neurologists, chiropractors, physical therapy, and all kinds of different focused practitioners—eye practitioners, teeth practitioners—we see all kinds of injuries, sometimes burn practitioners. We want to make sure that they’re recovering and receiving the right treatment. Sometimes it’s multiple experienced professionals at the same time.

In addition, we want to make sure that we can find treatment for some of our clients that don’t have health insurance, or maybe they have Medicare or Medicaid. A lot of those traditional providers—usually the highly regarded providers in town—don’t see people like that. But over time, we have developed relationships and built a network of superior providers who can then provide this treatment for our clients when they otherwise wouldn’t. They then give us the records and opinions that we need to seek the value in their case. We are able to, because of the relationships we developed, help people find treatment that they could not find at other law firms. Seeking the right treatment is a key for us.

The other thing I think about is trying to seek the value of these claims. We want to make sure they’re going to all their treatments, but we also want to use knowledgeable authorities. Sometimes people are going to have future medical care; we don’t have a bill for that yet, but we have experienced consultants who can come in and analyze what that future care is going to cost, what they have lost economically, lost wages, and what they can no longer do around the house that they used to could do and they’ll never be able to do again, like cut the grass or paint the house. These things cost money and time. We can capture all those damages with consultants. This is a way for us to forecast and show how much it’s going to affect this person in the future, which adds value to the case.

Geoff: In terms of claim resolution, what are some of the things we do in order to seek the recovery in a case?

Response: When a client’s done treating, we collect all their evidence and we do a custom demand letter and custom demand package just for that client. Our negotiating team of attorneys is highly capable; they have years of experience and they know the adjusters. The adjusters know they’re not going to settle for less than the maximum value and they will fight hard for our clients to seek the recovery. When the cases are settled, they can often go in and secure medical bill reductions and health insurance lien reductions, saving tens of thousands of dollars. Many attorneys will not do that. This gives them an advantage in knowing proper settlement values and what drives settlements up. A broken arm, a sprained neck, or a burn—nobody knows what those cases are worth unless you’re an attorney and you’ve negotiated hundreds or thousands of these cases and you’ve litigated these cases repeatedly. Then you know what the values are and what the juries in these different counties will award. We’re not guessing; we have data upon which to draw to make an informed decision as to the value of these cases. By contacting our firm, a person can have confidence and peace knowing that they have access to superior legal service. They’ll know that they did everything they could to resolve this problem professionally and in their family’s interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it important to have legal counsel speak with insurance companies?

Legal counsel manages all communications with insurance companies to ensure that no statements are made that could inadvertently harm the claim. By controlling the flow of information, the firm protects the client from making remarks that may seem minor but could be used by adjusters to limit recovery. This approach allows the client to focus on physical recovery while the legal team handles the technical aspects of the case.

How is evidence collected at the early stage of an accident investigation?

Premier investigators gather critical evidence such as witness statements, skid mark photos, and video surveillance from neighboring areas. These professionals, often with decades of experience in law enforcement, work to secure information before it is lost or destroyed. This proactive step ensures that the firm has its own comprehensive record of the event to balance the findings of insurance company investigators.

How can I receive medical treatment if I do not have health insurance?

Law firms with established professional networks can help clients find medical providers who are willing to offer treatment regardless of insurance status. These relationships include access to neurological, orthopedic, and physical therapy focused practitioners who provide the necessary care and detailed medical records. This ensures that physical recovery is handled properly while also building the documentation required for the legal claim.

How is the value of a future medical claim determined?

Experienced consultants analyze future medical needs and economic losses, such as the inability to perform household tasks or future lost wages. Because future costs do not yet have an invoice, these knowledgeable authorities forecast how an injury will affect a person’s life over many years. This data is then used to seek a recovery that accounts for the ongoing impact of the accident.

How does an attorney determine the proper settlement value for an injury in North Carolina?

The value of a claim is determined by analyzing historical data from hundreds of similar cases and understanding local jury trends in specific counties. Rather than guessing, the legal team uses years of litigation experience to evaluate injuries ranging from fractures to catastrophic conditions. This information-driven approach allows for an informed decision-making process that supports a professional resolution in the client’s interest.
