North Carolina law requires any employer who employs three or more workers to carry workers’ compensation coverage. Note that executive officers count as employees unless they opt out, so a company with one employee and two officers would still have to provide workers’ compensation.
Contractors, trucking companies, and workplaces that involve the use or presence of radiation must have coverage regardless of the number of employees.
