Wilmington, North Carolina (July 01, 2026) – According to the Wilmington Police Department and local authorities, three Wilmington firefighters were injured after a vehicle crash caused a gas line rupture and explosion at a building in Wilmington.
Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle left the roadway while making a turn and struck a gas line connected to the Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral building, which was undergoing renovations. The impact caused a gas leak that later resulted in a powerful explosion while firefighters were inside the structure investigating the scene.

He faces charges including driving while intoxicated, felony serious injury, possession of drug paraphernalia, hit-and-run/leaving the scene, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane, according to reports.
