Fayetteville, North Carolina (September 06, 2026) – A motorcyclist died after crashing into a Fayetteville Area System of Transit bus Saturday afternoon, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Police responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a FAST bus on Cedar Creek Road near Troy Drive.
According to investigators, the bus was stopped to unload passengers when the motorcyclist attempted to change lanes and pass the bus. The motorcycle then struck the rear of the bus.
The motorcyclist was identified as John Wood, 60, of Fayetteville. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment and later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
