Charlotte, North Carolina (June 27, 2026) – According to the Mecklenburg EMS Agency (MEDIC), emergency crews were involved in a secondary crash after an ambulance was struck while responders were actively treating a patient at the scene of an earlier collision in northeast Charlotte.
Preliminary reports indicate that MEDIC units were dispatched to a crash near North Tryon Street and West Mallard Creek Church Road around 12:30 a.m. While emergency personnel were providing medical treatment inside the ambulance, another vehicle reportedly collided with the ambulance, creating a dangerous secondary incident.
Officials stated that responders were positioned in the back of the ambulance treating an injured patient from the initial crash when the impact occurred. Emergency crews immediately assessed the situation and continued providing medical care while securing the scene.
