
Charlotte, North Carolina (June 15, 2026) – According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Major Crash Unit, detectives are investigating a fatal vehicle crash in the Steele Creek Division.
Preliminary reports indicate that on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 10:50 a.m., officers, Charlotte Fire, and MEDIC responded to the 9000 block of South Tryon Street following reports of a public accident involving a motorized scooter.
Upon arrival, responders located the operator of the motorized scooter, identified as 53-year-old man, lying unresponsive near the scooter. Emergency personnel provided immediate medical assistance at the scene.
MEDIC transported man to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities stated that the preliminary investigation suggests man was operating the scooter when he lost control and fell.
Officials confirmed that on Sunday, June 14, Mr. Mason was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
