Charlotte, North Carolina (September 10, 2026) – Three people were seriously injured following a car accident Thursday morning on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, according to information from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and Medic.
The crash happened at approximately 7 a.m. on September 10 between Exit 14 for Mount Holly Road and Exit 16 for Brookshire Boulevard. All lanes of I-485 inner were closed following the collision, while two outbound lanes were also shut down.
NCDOT cameras showed one vehicle overturned in the median and a sedan that had crashed into a guardrail. Multiple emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Charlotte Fire and two Medic ambulances.
Medic reported that three people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Information regarding the identities of those injured and the full extent of their injuries was not immediately provided.
