Charlotte, North Carolina (August 6, 2026) – A 23-year-old woman was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash in east Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood area, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:12 p.m. on March 12 at the intersection of The Plaza and Hamorton Place. Officers responding to the scene found two vehicles involved in the collision.
According to CMPD’s preliminary investigation, one vehicle ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene on foot following the crash.
The 23-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other people involved in the collision were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
